Once the home of the Excise Officer for Laphroaig distillery, now welcoming Bed and Breakfast guests.

The Old Excise House offers a warm welcome, good food and luxury en-suite rooms with spectacular sea views.  Situated on the coast between Port Ellen and the world famous whisky distilleries of Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg.

Guest accommodation is on the first floor to make the most of the superb sea views.   There are two guest rooms and a Breakfast/Sitting room.  The Laphroaig room has superking/twin beds and a large en-suite traditional bathroom with cast iron roll top bath. The Texa room has  a king size victorian cast iron and brass bed with a contemporary en-suite shower room. Each room offers satellite TV, free internet connection, tea and coffee tray with homemade biscuits and fresh milk, hairdryer and locally made Spirited Soaps toiletries. The Guests breakfast/sitting room is the perfect place to relax, by the wood burning stove, with plenty of books and games available.

The Old Excise House is a non smoking property and unfortunately cannot take pets. If both the rooms are booked together we can accommodate children. Special diets including gluten free are catered for, please ask for details. We use as much local produce as possible, along with homemade cakes, biscuits and preserves.

Golf tuition is available from one of the hosts, Ron, a PGA qualified golf professional who teaches at The Machrie Championship golf course a few miles away, near the airport.

The rate for 2011 for either room is £50 per person per night for bed and breakfast, based on double occupancy.   Payment is by cash, uk bank cheque or sterling travellers cheques, unfortunately we cannot take credit cards.
